Blending Hair Extensions With Natural Hair
Colour, length and the final cut
A good set of extensions disappears into the client’s own hair. Blending is where much of that happens.
Check the colour in daylight
Salon lights can change how a shade looks. Fitters compare the extension with the client’s hair near a window.
Blend two shades
If the client’s hair has lighter ends or darker roots, a single flat colour will look wrong. Mixing two tones can copy the natural variation.
Cut to blend
After fitting, many fitters cut the client’s hair and the extensions together so the ends meet without a hard line.
Keep it light
Over-thinning to blend can leave less hair than the client wants. Take small steps and check often.
Practise it
Blending is a judgement skill that improves with repetition. If you are comparing courses in Leeds, ask whether blending and cutting are part of the day.
Ask about dates
